Proving The truth With a Lie Detector Test administered by Polygraph Australia

Lisa Jones, a small business owner, has found herself caught in a challenging battle with her insurance company. To shed light on her side of the story, she turned to Polygraph Australia and underwent a lie detector test.

The whole ordeal began when a customer had an accident in Jones’s clothing store last January. The customer tripped over a step, prompting a compensation claim that ended with Jones’s insurer paying out a hefty $340,000 settlement.

During the claim process, Jones’s landlord’s lawyers provided information to her insurer, stating that Jones had installed the step that caused the accident. However, after the settlement, Jones revealed that her landlords had admitted to giving incorrect information, acknowledging a miscommunication.

Jones’s insurer admitted in official documents that had they known this information earlier, it might have affected their assessment of her liability. On top of this, Jones couldn’t meet an indemnity requirement in her lease agreement with her landlord, which led to her lease not being renewed. Despite a low insurance excess of $500, she emphasized that the situation ended up costing her much more, including the need to find a new place, losing the sale of her site, strained family time, and damage to her reputation with suppliers.

In an attempt to address the situation, Jones received a call from an insurance company resolution officer who seemingly acknowledged a lack of due diligence on their part. Confused and frustrated, Jones questioned the insurer’s investigation process and their failure to communicate with her or her staff.

However, the insurance company denied making such an admission, prompting Jones to take a significant step—she decided to undergo a polygraph test with accredited polygraph examiner Cristelle van Heerden from Polygraph Australia. Driven by her belief in her own honesty and integrity, she stated, “I might have my flaws, but lying isn’t one of them. This has been a tough journey.”

Although the polygraph test wasn’t conducted in front of the media, the results were shared with them. Official records confirmed that Jones successfully passed the test, with no signs of deception detected when asked about the disputed phone call. Jones wasn’t surprised by these results, as she had full faith in her own truthfulness. “I had a feeling this would be the outcome. I might make mistakes, but I’m definitely not a liar,” she confidently declared.
